For Beginners and Returning Artists
Ready to Start Drawing Again
This 8-session workshop is designed for adults seeking a strong and supportive introduction to classical drawing. Rooted in observation and time-tested academic methods, the course guides students through essential principles such as proportion, shading, perspective, and composition. Whether you're completely new to drawing or returning after a long break, each class builds upon the last to create a solid and confident foundation.
Students will work with graphite and charcoal while learning to observe like an artist and draw with intention. Through structured exercises, such as Bargue-based studies and shaded spheres, landscapes and introductory portraits, students develop technical skill, visual awareness, and creative confidence. The course concludes with a finished portrait project and a group critique where students reflect on their progress and celebrate their growth.
With hands-on guidance and a welcoming, small-group environment, this course is an ideal starting point for anyone ready to nurture their inner artist.
