For Intermediate and Continuing Students Ready to Draw with Intention, Memory, and Imagination

By popular request, Academic Drawing II picks up right where Academic Drawing I leaves off. This 8-session course builds on the foundations of line, edge, and observation from the first class and pushes them further, moving from careful study toward drawing with intention, memory, and imagination.

Designed for returning students or artists with prior drawing experience, the course deepens the classical academic approach while opening it up to design and narrative. We'll revisit lines and edges at a more advanced level, introduce drawing from memory, and explore how shapes work in composition, how depth cues and one-point perspective create space, and how a sequence of drawings can tell a story.

Students will work through a series of structured projects including a blob drawing study, a tattoo design, a storyboard, and two en plein air sessions drawing sculpture from life at a local museum. Each project is designed to strengthen your visual understanding while encouraging a more confident, personal drawing voice, and the course culminates in our museum days, where everything you've practiced comes together in front of the real thing.
