What is Mixed Studio?

Explore your creativity across any medium of your choice in our Group Mixed Studio. This flexible 2 hour session allows artists to bring their own vision to life.

You'll join a small group environment, no more than 6 students, where each artist works independently, while our instructor provides individualized guidance and creative feedback tailored to your chosen project as needed.

All Mixed Studio Session credits remain valid for up to 90 days from the date of your first session.

What is Mixed Studio?

Mixed Studio is open studio time with one-on-one instruction. You bring your own project in any medium, work at your own pace, and I come around to help you individually. You don't need to decide what to work on in advance — I can help you figure that out.

It's for students who have finished a course and want to keep going, painters returning after a break who want feedback rather than a curriculum, and anyone who wants a weekly studio routine. Your in-progress pieces stay at the studio between sessions.

New to the school? Mixed Studio works best once you have some drawing or painting foundation. If you're starting from scratch, Academic Drawing I or Oil Painting I will serve you better first.

Days & times

Sessions are two hours. Every current session is on the live calendar; if it's not on the calendar, it isn't running that week. More time slots coming in January.

  • Tuesday 4:00–6:00 PM
  • Thursday 6:00–8:00 PM
  • Saturday 1:00–3:00 PM — fills fastest; book early

No sessions on holiday weekends or during the breaks between terms. Those dates are blocked on the calendar.

Pricing

One credit = one two-hour session. Buy a pack, then book sessions one at a time whenever you like.

  • Single session — $110
  • 4-pack — $320 ($80 per session)
  • 8-pack — $570 ($71 per session)

Credits are valid for 180 days (6 months) from the purchase date. Expired credits can't be restored, so book as you go rather than saving them up.

How it works

  1. Buy a pack. You'll get a confirmation email with a code. Use the same email address every time you book — that's how your credits find you.
  2. Create your account. Click Sign up in the top-right corner of the booking calendar. This takes a minute and lets you see your remaining credits and upcoming sessions any time.
  3. Book a session. Pick a date on the calendar. Your credit is applied automatically when you're logged in; if it isn't, paste your code at checkout.
  4. Show up and paint. Bring your project (or leave it here between sessions). I'll come around to each student during the two hours.

Buying a pack does not book any sessions. Step 3 is where you choose your dates.

Good to know

Your credits. Log in to your account on the booking calendar (the Log in link in the top-right corner) and your active codes are listed with their remaining uses and expiry. Don't want an account? Click Check code balance at the bottom of the booking calendar and Acuity will email you a list of your codes and how many sessions are left on each. If a pack you bought doesn't show up, email me the code and I'll attach it to your account.

Changing or cancelling a session. You can move or cancel any session yourself up to 24 hours before it starts, using the Change/Cancel Appointment link in your confirmation or reminder email. Inside 24 hours the session can't be changed online and the credit is used, whether or not you attend. A session cancelled more than 24 hours ahead returns the credit to your code automatically.

Minimum of four students. Mixed Studio runs with a minimum of 4 students. If fewer than 4 are booked 24 hours before the start time, that session is cancelled, you'll get an email, and your credit goes straight back to your account to use on any other open session.

What to bring

  • If you want to bring your own project and materials you can, but it's not necessary.
  • A question or two about what you're stuck on — that's what the one-on-one time is for.

Wet paintings and works in progress can stay at the studio between sessions. Label them with your name.

FAQ

I bought a pack but the calendar didn't book anything. Right — a pack is credits, not dates. Go to the calendar and book each session you want.

I can't see my credits. Log in with the email you used to buy the pack. If it still doesn't show, send me the code from your purchase email.

The session I want is full. Join the waitlist on that date; you'll get an email if a seat opens. Saturday fills first, so Tuesday and Thursday are the surest bets.

I need to switch days this week. Use Change/Cancel from your confirmation email, up to 24 hours ahead. Inside 24 hours the credit is used.

Can I bring a friend? Yes, if they book their own seat on the same date. Mixed Studio is open to anyone with some drawing or painting experience.

I'm visiting from out of town — can I drop in once? Yes, a single session is $110. Book it on the calendar like any other session.

Can I use a credit for a Van Gogh / Monet / portrait class? No — credits are for Mixed Studio only. Course classes are booked separately.

My credits expired. Credits last 180 days from purchase and can't be restored. Buy a new pack and book as you go.

Do you offer private lessons? Not currently. Mixed Studio is the closest thing: small group, individual help.
